Looks like people will do anything to get their picture in the paper these days. This event, organised by Improv Everywhere, took place in 60 cities spread across 25 countries. Started back in 2000, involving just 7 men for its inaugural ride, the organisers have seen this “prank collective” increase to thousands of people participating this year. The idea is that in the depths of winter prankster all board the same subway train in their normal winter gear minus any pants, skirts or tights, bare legs being the order of the day.
There was even a briefing from the Improv Everywhere ensuring that if asked why there were not wearing trousers they were to claim no knowledge of the event or the other participants.
The event can certainly claim to be a diverse spread of the globe, with entrants from London, New York, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Istanbul, Shanghai and Hong Kong and many more.
I shall be keeping an eye on Improv Everywhere – certainly they have had some entertaining pranks to date and they claim to have completed “100 missions involving tens of thousands of undercover agents”, and if nothing else I will be seeing if I can get involved next year – my party trick used to be turning up to Christmas dinner in my shorts so I have had the training. 😛
